Plot Outline: Funded by Thai Public Broadcasting Service, SAWASDEE BANGKOK is an omnibus of nine short films that celebrate – and take a long, hard look – at various aspects of Thailand’s capital city. The movies show the lives of Bangkokians big and small, young and old, rich and poor, who altogether form a colorful, complex tapestry of the people and the place known to many as the City of Angels
Mahanakorn (Bandit Rittakol): A peasant couple, having won a lottery prize, travels to Bangkok with the goal of taking a photo with Temple of Dawn.
Lost But Not Forgotten (Ruethaiwan Wongsirasawad): An old man who was once a pop-idol and the rage of Bangkok gets on a wrong bus that takes him down a memory lane.
Silence (Pen-ek Ratanaruang): A party girl learns an important lesson from a homeless man when her car breaks down on a deserted road.
Sightseeing (Wisit Sasanatieng): A blind girl gets a special tour of Bangkok from a man who claims to be an angel who once helped build the city.
Tamarind Ghost (Kongdej Jaturansasmee): A lonely young man picks up a woman from Sanam Luang. They walk and talk around the city’s historic quarters.
Bangkok Stories (Prachya Pinkaew): A humorous documentary that looks at the quirks of the director’s beloved capital.
Bangkok Blues (Aditya Assarat): Ananda and Louis are best buddies. Louis is thinking about going back to see his ex, while Ananda tries to record of sounds from a Bangkok park.
Sisters (Chukiat Sakweerakul): A story of two sisters, one a school star and the other a little girl who envies her sister’s popularity.
I Love Bangkok (Santi Taepanich): Hear what the small people of Bangkok have to say about the city, from a monk to a drag queen.
