Gitarajan [ 1996 ]
Plot Outline: The 70- minute documentary, “Gitarajan” is produced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary Celebaration of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne. The film portrays His Majesty’s talent and high interest in music, including the excellence of His Majesty’s compositions which continue to delight listeners to this day.
Gitarajan is divided into 7 parts, begining with His Majesty’s different tasks that he performs for happiness of his people, then turning back to the time when he spent 2 years studying classical music under a renowned teacher. It also illustrates his attentions to serious practice of the music he loves most ... jazz. Each note of music composed by His Majesty over the past 50 years reflects different times and phases of His Majesty’s life as well as carries within it a certain depth of meaning. Through his music, His Majesty has opened his heart to his people, helping to strengthen the bonds between the king and his people in a way never seen before.
The film, Gitarajan, was sponsored by Suramararaja Co, Ltd. under the production of Kantana Motion Picture Company. Scheduled to be completed in November 1996, it was premiered on Friday 20th December 1996 at the Main Hall, Thailand Cultural Center.
