Plot Outline: A colour-splashed Thai-Western melodrama modeled after the Technicoloured flicks of the 1960s, Fah Talai Jone adheres to the ethos that no fight is worth fighting unless it’s a fight for love. As a child, Tiger Dam saves the ravishing Rampoei from harm but hurts himself in a fight that leaves a scar on his forehead. As a young man, Dam joins the band of marauding bandits led by Sua Fai, while Rampoei is forced to marry a distinguished policeman. But fate will lead Dam to meet his beloved Rampoei, as gunfighting and impossible love turn the whole saga into a quirky tragedy. Wisit Sasanatieng’s film is a landmark in nostalgia and postmodern filmmaking style.
